POD for short, better known as Print on Demand, is a type of service that benefits the author's profit by printing books as they are ordered. Print editions make up a larger portion of book sales and typically bring in more revenue than E-books. Especially for the self-publishing process, Print on Demand is a strategy that helps authors, more importantly, independent authors to help profit off their pieces of work. Mainly independent authors and publishers will use this technique. [1]
Benefits of POD

The benefits of Print on Demand are widespread amongst many areas of the publishing industry. When it comes to financial states, authors benefit themselves and the economy by producing books that people are definitive in buying. Along with this benefit, is the cost of the environment. By printing on demand, we are using less paper rather than for the mass-production of books that are unsought and sitting on shelves untouched.[3]
Digital Mapping and its Effect on Print
Map on Demand, also short for MOD is a process that uses digital mapping in order to Print on Demand. MOD printing is a digital technology that produces paper maps only when they are ordered. This is the process and the machine behind Print on Demand. It uses high-speed, large-format plotters and digital data to instantly produce customized, high-quality maps on demand, enabling tailored coverage areas and the most up-to-date information. This kind of technology calls for a massive amount of storage, which holds up to multiple databases that collect the works of multiple independent publishers.[3]
